Fairmont Loves the Outdoors – 5 Must-Do Winter Activities

Love is in the [fresh, mountain] air! This February, we’re celebrating all things love – our love of Whistler, our love of winter and more specifically, our undeniable love of the outdoors. What makes Whistler truly special is the unique opportunity we have to share our favourite mountain moments with our nearest and dearest, all in our own backyard.

Here are just a few of our favourite Whistler activities to enjoy this February. Whether you’re snowshoeing, skiing, or perhaps enjoying a quiet winter walk, be sure to #welovewinter to share your favourite winter activities with us this month, and share your love for Whistler!

1. Hit the Trails

Hit the trails with our Whistler Experience Guides! It’s that magical time of year when some of our favourite summer trails transform into a full-blown winter wonderland in front of our eyes. From incredible snowshoe adventures to Rainbow Falls, to an afternoon exploring the Lost Lake trails just minutes from our door, our Whistler Experience Guides, are waiting to show you some of Whistler’s best snowshoe trails!

Looking for a self-guided tour of Whistler’s trails? Our friends at Cross Country Connection offer daily snowshoe (and cross-country ski) rentals to help you connect with Whistler’s incredible backyard.

2. Master the mountain, one run at a time.

It’s no secret, our love for the mountains runs deep. With 200 incredible ski runs to explore, terrain for all abilities and 360-degree views of the whistler Valley, Whistler Blackcomb is a true winter paradise for skiers and snowboarders alike. So, we were more than excited this past week when Mother Nature sent her best wishes to Whistler in the form of fresh, fluffy snow, just in time for some February fun!

3. Soar Above the Peaks

Explore Whistler from new heights with an epic zipline adventure through BC’s stunning coastal mountains. Located just north of Whistler on Cougar Mountain, Superfly Ziplines is your one-stop-shop for the ultimate Whistler adventure day. Explore old-growth forests and soar high above the treetops for an unrivalled view of Whistler’s surrounding mountains. With the longest of the four zip lines spanning well over one kilometre in length and sitting 200 meters high, ‘thrilling’ may be a bit of an understatement.

And, if you’re looking for a new adventure to share with your special someone, all of Superfly’s zip lines are set up in tandem, so you can soar through the air alongside your favourite person.

4. Connect With Nature

Chill-seekers unite – this one’s for you! Why not slow things down a bit this month? Though Whistler is known for its adrenaline-fueled activities and extreme mountain adventures, it is also surrounded by some of BC’s most breathtaking mountain peaks, scenic wooded trails, and pristine lakes just waiting to be discovered. When it comes to exploring Whistler, a quiet stroll through our little winter wonderland may be just the ticket to satisfy your sense of adventure.

Looking for a new trail? Some of our favourite spots for a winter wander include Rainbow Park (pictured here), a lakeside stroll around Green Lake, or set out on Whistler’s extensive Valley Trail system and discover a few hidden gems along the way!

5. Relax and Recharge
